“Akoma” in the Akan/Twi language means heart. It is the m​ission of Akoma Foundation, Inc. to serve the metro-Washington, D.C. community by responding to the needs of residents who are unable to participate in life’s milestones because of limited financial resources. Our mission is accomplished by galvanizing the community to provide monetary and in-kind resources to allow individuals and families to enjoy special occasions such as proms, back-to-school, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
